This study aims to analyze the factors influencing the impact of social media use on college students, particularly in relation to social anxiety and mental health. This study used a library research method by reviewing various literature sources such as scientific journals, books, and relevant previous research reports. The results of the study indicate that the intensity of social media use, individual motivation, the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), as well as family support and digital literacy levels are the main factors influencing the impact of social media on college students. Excessive social media use has been shown to increase social anxiety due to self-comparison and the need for social validation. Conversely, good social support and digital literacy can be protective factors against these negative impacts. The conclusions of this study emphasize the importance of wisely managing social media use and increasing self-awareness so that social media can provide positive benefits for the psychological and social development of college students.
